No, you do not need a referral. Simply contact me for an appointment.

Can I claim a rebate through my private Health Fund?

Yes. If you are a member with Medibank Private, depending on your coverage, you can claim a rebate.

Do you offer the Medicare Rebate?

No. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not currently able to offer the Mental Health Care Plan rebate form Medicare.

What is involved in my initial consultation?

The first consultation typically involves:

  • Information about my services and how I work to support you
  • Discussing your concerns and presenting issues
  • Getting clarity on how these are currently impacting on your life
  • Your expectations and goals in regards to therapy

What is the difference between a psychologist, a counsellor and pychotherapist and a coach?


In Australia, Psychologists are focused on the science of how people think, feel, behave and learn. To practice in Australia a Psychology must be registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and must be listed with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA). Psychologists are required to have a minimum of 6 years university training and must undergo strict standards and continuing professional training to maintain their registration. Psychologists have varied roles including, research, providing therapy, administering psychological tests and formulating public health campaigns.

Counselling and Psychotherapy

Counselling is a collaborative approach between professionally trained counsellors and client that promotes mental health and wellbeing, self understanding, and uses talk therapies to help clients identify and address concerns. Clients are active participants throughout the entire counselling process.

Counsellors can be broad or specialise and assist clients to explore such issues as identity, spirituality, relationships, parenting, grief and loss, depression and anxiety, alcohol and substance use, trauma, child abuse and many other issues.

Counsellors have completed either post Graduate or Undergraduate training and must continue with ongoing professional development and practice to Ethical Standards as set out by Professional Counselling Associations. Counselling is generally more short term and Psychotherapy more longer term therapy looking at more deep seated issues.


Coaching is a hugely successful approach to helping empower people to reach specific goals and develop a solution focused perspective to life. Life coaches help with specific projects, goals or transitions for example; career change, professional projects. Life coaches do not give direct advice or tell people what to do but simply assist people to get clear about their goals and support and encourage clients through the process of achieving their goals.
